Four Tet Shares Tribute Track on Soundcloud

09/02/2012 • Alana Leggett - @hideoutfestival

Four Tet this week shared a track he made way back in 2004, made in honour of the French musician Jef Gilson, who passed away at the age of 86 only a few days ago. The cosmic, jazz-inspired track, entitled ‘ A tribute to Jef Gilson’, is built entirely using samples from Jef’s music and recordings and was originally released as a limited edition 9” vinyl on the French label Isma’a over 8 years ago. You can listen to the track on Four Tet’s soundcloud page here:

Four Tet – the electronic moniker of artist Kieran Hebden  – started off the new year with the release of his latest production offering ‘Moma’, put out on the Blonde Redhead compilation entitled ‘We Are The Works in  Progress’. Last year was a massive success for the London born artist too; his Fabric Live 59 mix was incredibly well received, and his collaboration with Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke and Burial on the tracks ‘Ego’ and ‘Scramble’ resulted in an almighty scramble for copies when the track was released – initially only on a 300 pressed vinyl run – early last spring.

You can catch Four Tet performing live at Wax:On at the Mint Warehouse in March.
